Introduction to ArcGIS PRO

The WarthogIS ArcGIS PRO introductory  training is broken into fourteen separate topics. The course begins with an overview of Geographic Information Systems and then proceeds into an overview of ArcGIS PRO software.  Each of the following topics introduces an aspect of GIS through live instruction and then the trainee practices that aspect of GIS, hands-on in ArcGIS PRO through exercises. The final exercise introduces ArcGIS Online web mapping.

The course is 24 hours total.  In person, it is a 3-day course.  As a virtual course, there is flexibility and the 24 hours of course time can be organized to fit a remote training schedule.

Transition to ArcGIS PRO from ArcMAP

This course is intended for those who have worked with ArcMap and want to transition to ArcGIS PRO. Students of this course will learn the layout and fundamental processes of ArcGIS PRO through guided exercises. Each exercise will contain text and media, as well as hands-on tasks to support student learning. These hands-on portions will utilize public data to allow students to practice real-world GIS processes and workflows in the ArcGIS PRO software. This practice will help students cement the operations of the software.

The course is 16 hours.  In person, it is a 2-day course.  As a virtual course, there is flexibility and the 16 hours of course time can be organized to fit a remote training schedule.

Advanced Cartography with ArcGIS PRO

The WarthogIS cartography training is broken into six topics.  The course is progressive with overlap between the topic areas.  Each topic area focuses on an aspect of cartography, while also reinforcing the items learned in the previous topic areas.  Each topic area includes both live instruction and a hands-on cartography project.  All  cartography projects are completed using ArcGIS PRO.  In addition to learning cartography design principles, the trainee learns how to efficiently implement design principles for a cartography project using the ArcGIS PRO software.

The course is 16 hours.  In person, it is a 2-day course.  As a virtual course, there is flexibility and the 16 hours of course time can be organized to fit a remote training schedule.

Advanced Geoprocessing with Model Builder and Python in ArcGIS PRO

Students of this course will explore advanced ArcGIS techniques for geoprocessing, data analysis, project management, and metadata.  The course is designed around the ArcGIS PRO geoprocessing framework:  ArcToolbox, Model Builder, and Python/ arcpy scripting. The course starts with Model Builder and students learn how to use iterators  and Model Builder to automate complicated multi-step geoprocessing workflows through any number of datasets.  The course then moves into Python scripting and the arcpy module for geo-processing scripts inside of ArcGIS PRO. This part of the course is split between learning Python scripting techniques not unique or inherent to ArcGIS PRO, and arcpy scripting techniques specific to ArcGIS PRO.  To wrap up the course, we introduce techniques to automate metadata writing and ArcGIS PRO project (aprx) management.
